‘People Like Me’ exposes 6,500 girls to STEM industries

Loving the WISE Campaign’s People Like Me programme as reported in the Evening Standard, which introduces girls aged 12 to 14 to role models working in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM).

WISE is a fantastic organisation that campaigns for gender balance in STEM industries, from the classroom to the boardroom. People Like Me brings workshops to schools at a crucial decision-making time for girls – when they’re making their GCSE subject choices.

It’s not a new initiative – the programme launched in 2015 and already workshops have been delivered to over 6,500 girls around the UK.

Commenting on People Like Me, WISE’s CEO, Helen Wollaston told the Standard:

It’s clear that delivering interesting and thought-provoking career-focused workshops to girls has resulted in an impact on the ambitions and interest in STEM among those who participated.
